Departure of Ponta Delgada city. We drive to Furnas along the south coast of the island in direction of Vila Franca do Campo. A short stop is made at the viewpoint called Pisão at Água de Pau village. From this viewpoint you are able to see the sea and a small village named Caloura an area with a small fishing port and natural pool. Following to Vila Franca do Campo, first capital of the island in 1444, we stop at the viewpoint of Senhora da Paz, a chapel on the hill with a magnificent view over the village, the sea and the islet of the same name of the village, formed by a volcanic eruption. We proceed the tour to furnas where the lake welcomes us at the entrance of the village. Is along one of the edges that we appreciate the removal of the famous stew, cozido das furnas, from the boilers (entrances fees not included). Before lunch, we visit Terra Nostra botanical garden (entrances fees not included), a pool where you can enjoy 1:30 hour to bath in warm thermal waters or just walk in the garden. Time for lunch , furnas portuguese stew or you can choose another dish. After lunch we follow to Furnas village center’s to watch other boilers with boiling water and taste the typical waters that run on different spouts. We continue the tour to return to Ponta Delgada along the north coast, stopping at the viewpoint of Fico do Ferro which overlooks Furnas lake and village located inside a crater. We visit the tea plantation and factory Gorreana, unique in all Europe, open since 1883, where we can taste the famous green and black tea of the island. The last stop is made at the viewpoint of Santa Iria where you can watch a unique view of the north coast and the sea, ideal for photos. With this last stop we end our tour and return to Ponta Delgada.

Our first trip to sao miguel was last august and we had the good fortune of having pedro as our guide. Our family of four, parents and two teenagers, spent two days with pedro touring the island. He took us to places we never would have seen, comfortably and safely. In fact, the remainder of our stay was spent going back to our most favorite beaches, towns, and restaurants that pedro had shown us during the two day tour. The best part was that our kids really had fun. Pedro had my son try to milk a cow and help take out the cooking pot at the furnas. Pedro was very good company – it was very easy to be comfortable and relaxed with him. His spoken english is great and his personal information and knowledge of local history and culture even better.
Pedro also was willing to detour to the beautiful, little village of my grandfather, a memory that i will always treasure. It was a highlight of the trip for me.
When we return to sao miguel, we know we will call pedro to guide us. We couldn’t have been in better hands. We recommend his services enthusiastically and without hesitation.

L’île esta sans aucun doute un endroit paradisiaque, qui nous surprend dans tout les coins de son extrême beautê, mais le résultat de cette observation naturelle d’une telle beautê, ce n’est possible qu’en allant dans les endroits les plus reculés de l’île, pour cela, seules les personnes avec sympathie, humilité, amour pour leur terre et volonté de montrer cette connaissance, peut rendre cette visite encore plus excitante. Er war immer professionell, freundlich, pünktlich, sehr hilfsbereit und sehr sachkundig in Bezug auf die Kultur, die Insel und die richtigen Orte, die man besuchen sollte. Nach unserem zweiwöchigen Urlaub kann man sagen, wir haben einen tollen neuen Freund gefunden.
Wir konnten ihm alles anvertrauen, was wir wollten.

Pedro nahm unsere sechsköpfige Familie, die zwischen 5 und 66 Jahre alt ist, mit auf eine ausgedehnte Tour über die Insel. Seine Liebe zu seiner Heimat zeigte sich während der gesamten reizvollen, informativen und durch und durch unterhaltsamen Reise. Er war geduldig und höflich mit einem guten Sinn für Humor, und seine ausgezeichnete Kenntnis der Insel bedeutete, dass er den Tag so gestaltete, dass wir alle, unabhängig von unserem Alter, eine großartige Zeit hatten.
